Del Mar High School's premier musical organization is the Symphonic Band.

The Symphonic Band has performed in Victoria BC, Hawaii, San Diego, and numerous times at Disneyland. They consistently earn "Superior" Ratings at area and regional festivals. Admission to the Symphonic Band is by invitation or audition. The Symphonic Band is designed for students with more advanced skills and who will continue to develop their musicianship through high quality music literature. All participants are expected to be able to perform all 12 Major and the all 12 Melodic Minor scales, as well as a chromatic scale on the full range of their instrument.
